Zoom with Disney Artist

What started as a simple assignment in their Persuasive Writing unit turned into quite a treat! Mrs. Fergie asked her first grade class to use their persuasive skills to help decide which piece of artwork she should purchase for her classroom. They then had to write their own persuasive piece on which print on her wall was the best. A few messages and phone calls later David Buckley agreed to Zoom with her class.

David Buckley is a Principal Graphic Designer for Walt Disney Imagineering, where he has been since 1999. If you have visited a Disney park, resort, or cru
ise ship - you have probably seen his work! Since 2007 he has brought his playful art style to Disney galleries with his interpretations of Disney characters and attractions.

Mrs. Fergie has a collection of David’s artwork in her classroom and this year her students chose a movie for her next piece of artwork - The Lion King! During the Zoom call, David told them about himself, answered questions, and even did a directed drawing of a gator on a rollercoaster. It was so neat!!

Thank you, Mr. David Buckley for making time for some of our gators and sharing your amazing talents with us!!

Thank you, Mrs. Katy Pope and Mrs. Applegate for setting up the Zoom and providing the space to participate.
