Resources and Information for Special Populations
What do I do if my child is having problems in school?
Great question! Parent involvement is the first step. Your school counselor can help direct your child to appropriate help. We care! In fact, at each campus, a CARE team is ready to help determine the best way to help. Here are some facts you should know:
Student Support Teams (SST) of the Rockwall ISD are campus-based teams that serve as a problem solving committee. Each team serves to support students experiencing difficulties and coordinate school intervention planning. Student Support Teams work to solve problems and identify appropriate interventions for students.
Student Support Teams (SST) meet the state and federal requirements as an problem solving committee to make interventions for students. Your child may need referral to a special program, but prior to referral, students experiencing difficulty in the general classroom should be considered for all support services available to all students, such as tutorial, remedial, compensatory, and other interventions.
Our Goal is to Help YOU:
- Serve as a student support team to design interventions for students experiencing difficulties.
- Perform activities such as reviewing and collecting student data, monitoring student progress, identifying interventions, and referring students for special services if needed.
- Develop and coordinate instructional and behavioral interventions for students.
