The Lady Wildcats won six events, and qualified 16 athletes in 13 individual events and two relays for the District Championships April 4 at Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium.
Nicole Pugsley led Williams — winning the 800- and 400-meter runs, finishing second in the triple jump, tying for second in the high jump and running the anchor leg for the fourth-place 4X400-meter relay team that grabbed the last qualifying spot in that event.
WMS’ other first places were by Cathryn Deshong in the shot put, Haley Hicks in the discus, Micah Larkin in the 1,600 and Kaitlyn Stark in the 2,400.
Lady Wildcats finishing second were Sarah Graves in the 100-meter hurdles and Claire Norris in the 300 hurdles. Kylee Clark tied for second in the high jump and took fourth in the 800. Graves also placed third in the polevault. Other third-place qualifiers were the 4X200 relay team, Riley Robertson in the 1,600 and Marissa Roof in the 200. Taking the final qualifying berth in fourth place were Alena Johnston in the shot put and Sarah Stone in the 100.
Utley took two events, with Morgan Talley winning the triple jump and the 4X200 relay team of Kayla Campbell, Kimzy Tebo, Faith Vestal and Macey Shipman finishing first.
Talley placed second in both the 1,600 and the long jump, and was third in the 800. Vestal took second in the triple jump and third in the high jump. Finishing second were Shipman in the 200, and Campbell was the 400 runner-up. Shalon Alford was second in the discus and fourth, just behind third-place teammate Abigail Pena, in the shot put.
In the 4X100 relay, Keely Hampton, Tebo, Vestal and Shipman placed second. The UMS 4X400 relay finished third. Other Lady Wolves fourth-place qualifiers were Janet Nixon in the 200 and Jetter in the 1,600.
