Heath Baseball Wins First of Three at Regional Finals

Rockwall-Heath’s baseball team moved within one victory of reaching the 4A State Tournament by downing Frisco Wakeland 8-1 Thursday night.
RHHS would have to win either Friday or Saturday night to take the best-of-3 Region II-4A Finals. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday and (if necessary) Saturday at McKinney Boyd High School.
On Thursday, Jovan Hernandez was the winning pitcher for the fifth time during the playoffs. He also had a double and a run-scoring single.
Timbo Duncan started the scoring with a three-run double in the top of the first inning. Russell Hughes drove in two runs for the Hawks (33-8), who won their seventh consecutive game. They are in the Regional Finals for the third consecutive year, but haven’t yet made it to the State Tournament.
