August Accolades

Hays Elementary

Celia Hays is looking forward to our kickoff event for students and their families on August 24th! Come by and have some popcorn and say hello to friends both new and old. It’s going to be a great year!

Rochell Elementary

Rochell Elementary was awarded the Title I Part A Distinguished Performance Award for the 2011-2012 school.  The following were the criteria and we are very honored to be the recipients of this award!

The Texas Education Agency’s Title I, Distinguished Schools prestigious designation recognizes schools that have consistently demonstrated strong academic performances over a three-year period.  All of these Title I, Part A schools achieved the Academically Exemplary rating for the present school year and have a residing population of 40% or more low income students – as reported on NCLB Consolidated Application for Federal Funding.

Distinguished Performance Schools have achieved a minimum of a Recognized status for the two previous years, and Distinguished Progress Schools have increased their status from either Academically Unacceptable or Acceptable two years ago, to Recognized or Exemplary last year and Exemplary this year.  www.tea.state.tx.us

Springer Elementary

Summer Nights
An opportunity for extended Science learning was enjoyed by Springer families on two evenings over the summer. Numerous students and parents turned out to experience “cool activities” for “cool kids” involving a variety of science concepts on June 26th and July 31st. Families investigated properties of rocks and soil and had fun discovering how to make golf balls float in liquids just by adding sugar! Summer days were hotter than blaze, but…oh, those Summer Nights!
