Rockwall ISD’s Chief Academic Officer Dr. Debbie Koehn will retire on March 31 after 12 years leading the district’s curriculum and instruction department.
As Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Koehn has overseen significant growth in the district’s Advanced Academics, Career and Technology Educations courses. She also led the transition from TAKS to STAAR testing and implementing more rigorous curriculum standards.
“We will greatly miss Dr. Koehn both as an instructional leader and as a friend,” said Rockwall ISD Superintendent Jeff Bailey. “The education our students receive is significantly better as a result of the time she has invested in our district.”
“I love my job but I will miss the people of Rockwall ISD the most,” said Dr. Koehn. “When I first came to Rockwall ISD the thing that struck me most was the kindness of the people, and that has never changed.”
After leaving Rockwall ISD, Dr. Koehn plans to move with her husband, who retired last year, to New York City for a few years. “We’ve always enjoyed the idea of living in a city like New York, so this seemed like a great time to just try it out for a while,” said Dr. Koehn.
