Flat Stanley at Doris Cullins-Lake Pointe Elementary

First grade students in Tracy Childers’ class at CLP recently completed Flat Stanley projects.  After listening to a story about a little boy named Stanley who was made flat because a bulletin board fell on him, students designed their own Flat Stanley’s.  Student’s  practiced their friendly letter writing by composing letters to friends and family all over the country. Family and friends sent Stanly back along with letters, pictures and care packages that told us the adventures Stanley had been on. This year we even had a Flat Stanley go to Japan! This is such a great lesson as students were taught many skills such as writing friendly letters, mapping skills and math as we calculated the miles that our Flat Stanley’s traveled.
