Sara Bishop, 6th grade science teacher at Dorris A. Jones Elementary, has been selected to participate in the Texas Regional Collaborative.
The Texas Regional Collaboratives for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching (TRC) is an award-winning statewide network of 57 partnerships of K-16 educational institutions that provide sustained and high intensity professional development to P-12 teachers of science and mathematics across the state.
Texas Regional Collaborative programs equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to engage students in meaningful science and mathematics learning experiences. Activities are designed to improve students’ scientific, mathematical and technological literacy, and inspire them to pursue STEM careers.
Sara Bishop applied for and has been accepted into the 2015-2016 Region 10 Science Collaborative.
The goal of the Science Collaborative is to provide activities that are supported by scientifically based research and designed to deepen teachers’ content knowledge and knowledge of how students learn particular content.
This year’s Texas Regional Collaborative content will focus on Earth and Space Science.
Sara Bishop will represent Rockwall ISD as a Science Teacher Mentor.
