Addie Bryan Raises Thousands for Scottish Rite Hospital

Addie Bryan is a student at Grace Hartman Elementary who has been raising money for Scottish Rite Hospital. Addie was born with Larsen’s Syndrome, which is a rare disorder that affects the development of bones in the body. When she was born, doctors weren’t sure she would ever be able to walk. At just 5 days old, Addie began treatment at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas were she underwent several surgeries.

For her 8th birthday, Addie wanted to raise $8,000 in hopes to present the hospital with a check to give back for helping her walk, run, swim and play! Addie surpassed her goal and handed a $69,500 check to Scottish Rite Hospital on Wednesday, August 12.

First, Addie presented a check to Scottish Rite Hospital for $19,500 that she raised for her 8th birthday through asking for donations and a fundraiser night at Cotton Patch Cafe in Rockwall. When presenting her check to the hospital officials, Addie was surprised to receive an anonymous donation of $50,000 from an elderly couple who were inspired and touched by her story.

On Sunday, August 16, Addie was featured on ABC World news!

Rockwall ISD is proud to have such a courageous student like Addie representing our school district!
