A special family reunion was witnessed by a packed Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium on Friday night, August 28. As the Rockwall High School band marched off the field, the family of Marine Cpl. Seth Taylor, a 2013 Rockwall High School graduate, stood in the middle of the football field. Seth’s mother Monica Hardman, father Maj. Steven Taylor, grandmother Terry Parrish, brother Collin Taylor and sister Grayce Taylor, a junior at Rockwall High School, watched the scoreboard as pictures of Cpl. Taylor as a football player and Marine flashed on the screen.
As the crowd stood and clapped, Cpl. Taylor emerged from the football team’s tunnel to surprise his sister, Grayce. Ms. Taylor ran to her brother and welcomed him home with a huge embrace.
Taylor returned from an eight-month deployment with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit to six Middle Eastern countries and two landings in Africa. He serves as the Explosive Ordinance Disposal team’s Radio Operator in convoys and field operations. He was also a part of the Yemen Crisis Response Force.
The surprise reunion made Rockwall High School’s first football game of the season even more special.
