Rockwall ISD began a new initiative this week for the 2015-2016 school year. The Rockwall ISD Leadership Academy was introduced to parents representing every school in the district. The 34 participants in the six-week program will learn ‘what’s behind the scenes’ in operating a school district, the accolades and accomplishments of the district as well as the challenges facing Rockwall ISD. Presenting topics ranging from school finance and budget to Fine Arts, to Curriculum and Instruction will be the decision makers and experts in each of those areas. The program is designed to give parents, who are already active in our schools, an opportunity to learn about Rockwall ISD and see the detail and effort that goes into creating a district where students can grow to reach their full potential.
At its inaugural meeting on Tuesday, September 22, Academy participants heard from Mr. Bob Templeton, district demographer, about growth in Rockwall ISD. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 6. Participants will hear about the Rockwall ISD Fine Arts program, athletics program as well as budget and school finance. In addition, members will be treated to a Fine Arts performance during dinner.
The district hopes that after the completion of the program, these parents will become even more active volunteers and vocal supporters of Rockwall ISD!
