Rockwall ISD was invited to an exclusive press conference with Governor Greg Abbott to announce a new strategic plan for higher education in Texas and Rockwall ISD was among the honored invitees.
The new plan called 60x30TX focuses on ensuring that 60 percent of Texans between the ages of 25 and 34 hold a certification or degree by 2030.
Rockwall ISD was invited because one of the key strategies in the new plan is partnering with K-12 school districts. Rockwall ISD has begun a partnership with Collin College and Texas A&M Commerce that will align courses for high school students to ease the transition into college or the workforce.
In addition, students at the new voter-approved College and Career Academy will be able to take dual credit courses that transfer directly to college and earn professional work certifications.
