Heartbreak In Arlington

It was a game that started with such promise for the Heath Hawks. The Hawks held Wylie to a 3 and out to start the game. The Hawks responded with a long, successful drive that was capped off by a Canaan Smith 5 yard touchdown run to put the Hawks ahead 7-0. The Pirates, however put together a drive of their own to cut the Hawks lead to 7-6. The Hawks held onto a lead until 2 minutes left in the half when Wylie put together a solid drive to take a 16-10 led into half. The Hawks were shut down on their opening drive of the second half and Wylie put together a solid 8 minute drive to put the Pirates ahead 14. The Hawks faced a different kind of adversity this game and they didn’t quit. A solid dose of Tyler McCalister and Canaan Smith got the Hawks back into the game only down 7. The game would end though in the final minutes of the game when Canaan Smith threw an interception. The Pirates were able to convert a 1st down on 4th and 2 to end the Hawks season. The Hawks finish the 2015 season with a 8-4 record and a Bi-District Championship. The Hawks will move to 6A next season although it is unclear who else will join them in their new district. The new districts will drop in early February. Thank you Hawks on a magical season!
