Rockwall ISD hosted approximately 250 educators from surrounding school districts at a Covey Leadership Training on Tuesday, February 2 at several elementary campuses. Visitors witnessed first hand how schools incorporate leadership into daily routines. Students and staff hosted tours for the visiting educators to observe students’ work, as well as, various classrooms throughout four campuses.
The Leader in Me is Franklin Covey’s transformation process that teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students.
The program also creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. The program is now being used at several Rockwall ISD campuses.
“This program is raising up leaders, which makes good citizens and a good community that impacts the district in a good way,” Rochell Principal Sherry Packer said of the benefits of the program to the district.
Educators from Tyler ISD commented on student leaders who were ambassadors for the tours and who also demonstrated their work while being proud of it!
