SRO and Superhero’s at Springer Elementary

Damon is a Ft. Worth Police Officer Full Time. On his few days off, he visits children in hospitals and schools. His specialty is being with kids with Cancer. He does all of this on HIS OWN TIME, HIS OWN MONEY, and even purchased a Dodge Charger and detailed it to look like Superman’s Ride.  He buys Hero cards for these kids and has special capes made for those who are really sick.

He became friends with Springer Elementary’s SRO Officer Dee Brumit and are “Brother/Sisters in Blue” (Law Enforcement).  SRO Officer Brumit will be joining him on her days off to visit kids alongside him.  She invited him to Rockwall to visit her campuses within RISD (Springer, Amy Parks and Pullen). He visited Springer Elementary on Wednesday, February 3 as Batman and will make an appearance at the other two schools as different super-hero’s.

Both officers talked to the students about being “Bully-Free” and a “Friend to All.”  He gave them all a tour of his car and took pictures with Pre-K through 3rd grade.  He also left every student his own Hero-Card.

Officer Dee Brumit states, “I have been an SRO in Rockwall ISD for 13 years and this was one of the most memorable moments in my police career!  Damon gives SO VERY much of his time, money, heart and soul to so others….and now, his dad is very sick in ICU.  He has been by his dad’s bedside too during all of his other commitments.”
