The JV took to the field first on Friday night! As usual, the ladies made it an exciting beginning! They finished the evening shutting down the Lady Rangers 4 to nothing! Freshman, Alana Wickham opened up the scoring on a pass from freshman Sabrina Smith! Freshman Ana Gonzalez added another on a pass from Wickham. The final two goals came off the foot of Sophomore Sabrina Calderon: one being assisted by fellow sophomore Olivia Born.
The Lady Jackets look to avenge a loss to sachse from earlier in the season on Tuesday night in sachse. Wish them luck!
Friday night the Rockwall Lady Jackets traveled to Naaman Forest to take on the Lady Rangers for a district 11-6A match. The Lady Rangers were currently in 4th place in District standings and needed a win to stay in front of Lakeview. The game turned into a much tougher battle than anticipated for the Lady Jackets but they pulled out a 1-0 victory to stay in reach of the district lead held by Sachse.
The game was very intense and exciting from the opening whistle with neither defense giving up much room. Rockwall finally got on the board with 17 minutes and 53 seconds left in the half with a nice hard shot by Sophomore Lauren Baker. The Lady Rangers had an opportunity early with a great shot from the left side of the field that looked to be heading to the outside corner of the goal, but Senior Kristina Patterson made an awesome diving save to stymie the Rangers for any score. The game turned into a midfield battle and stayed this way not only throughout the remainder of the half, but the entire second half as well. The Lady Jackets had a couple of close opportunities with a shot from Senior Bailey Wooten just barely missing wide and another from Baker that the Ranger keeper made a fabulous save on. The defensive back line of the Lady Jackets, as well as the entire team, played with extreme pace and intensity in staving off any Ranger threats and kept the score at 1-0 till the final whistle. Next action will be Tuesday night as the Lady Jackets travel to Sachse to take on the undefeated and district 11-6A leaders on their home pitch. The game is shaping up to most likely be the winner take all for the district 11-6A title. GO LADY JACKETS!!!
