Libraries across the district are always looking for ways to gets students excited about reading. Mrs. Young at Rockwall High School did that this year with her “Blind Date with a Book” program. During the month of February, select books were wrapped up and a small, eye-catching summary was placed on the front. This allowed students to choose books based on interest, rather than just the look of the cover. Once the student chose and read the book, they filled out a “Rate Your Date” form which assessed whether they enjoyed the book or not and why. This is just one of the many ways that the school libraries in Rockwall ISD are encouraging reading, which has a positive impact on all subjects!
