School Library Month: Spotlight on Jones

Great things are happening in the Jones Elementary Library and Ms. Loya, the librarian, has been invited to speak at the Texas Library Association’s annual conference!  Thousands of librarians from across the state attend the TLA conference to learn about new and exciting programs happening in school libraries.

Ms. Loya,  has started “Maker Monday” at Jones where students go to the library throughout the day to experience hands on activities that allow them to problem solve. These activities include: programming and coding, music creation, physical construction for problem solving, and working with circuits. At the TLA conference, Ms. Loya will present her ideas on how to create makerspaces in schools regardless of budget.  She will also have a booth for a half day that will represent all of the RISD library makerspaces and the wonderful learning taking place in them!

Great things are happening in Rockwall ISD!
