The RISD Education Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation. The Foundation operates independently from the school district, soliciting private grants and community involvement in order to provide funds to support the students and staff of Rockwall ISD. It exists to enhance the education in the Rockwall ISD through fostering creative and innovative approaches to education.
From cultural exploration to rocketry and robotics to musical and artistic compositions, the Education Foundation awards Innovative Teaching Grants each semester. Since the Foundation began in 2003, a total of 203 grants have been awarded to 586 teachers, targeting more than 46,000 students. Total grant funds exceed $319,000.00.
The RISD employees participate in the “iAM the Foundation” campaign and celebrate Foundation Day every first Wednesday of the month by wearing their Foundation shirt. Community support is also seen at the homes of many Foundation friends by placing a “Fan of Rockwall ISD” sign in their yard. The Century Club, exclusively for parents, grandparents, business partners and alumni, celebrates their support of the Foundation with an annual donation as well.
The Education Foundation Board of Directors is volunteer based and is composed of outstanding community leaders who demonstrate experience, professionalism and integrity, and share a commitment to furthering the program.
