Hello, I am John Mark Rinker, and I am a teacher of AP United States History here at RHHS. I LOVE TEACHING! I am wrapping up my 8th year here with Rockwall-Heath High School and the 29th year overall. In Social Studies subjects, I've taught every subject there is from 6th Grade Social Studies to 12th Grade United States Government. I like to tell my classes I've taught students from ages 10 to 70. For eight of my teaching years, I worked for Frank Phillps College thus the 70-year-old :) 

Five years of my teaching experience have been in private schools in Nicaragua & Guatemala. Those five years are indeed some of my fondest memories, both of the fantastic culture my wife and I got to know so well, and of my first daughter, Tori, who was born in Managua, Nicaragua. Life has never really been the same. 

I have taught United States History at the AP/IB/College level for more than 20 years of my teaching life; it is my passion. I was out of the country on 9/11, and those days and the days that followed, have left an indelible stamp that has helped to make teaching history for me even more personal.

I've been married for 26 years to Jennifer Rinker; she is an ESL teacher at our sister school, Cain Middle School. Our daughters,  Emily and Tori, are students here at Rockwall-Heath. Our family enjoys Rockwall for everything it offers for education and the many unusual cultural events and museums that are so near.

I look forward to many wonderful years teaching at Rockwall-Heath High School. I believe, as a teacher and as a member of this astonishing community of educators, that we can genuinely change the world, one child at a time.
