Stevenson Sixth Graders Learn about the Stock Market

Sixth graders at Stevenson Elementary have been studying the stock market and recently participated in the Stock Market Game.  Students start with $100,000 and must research and choose how to invest their money in stocks, bonds and mutual funds.

Through a connection with Dr. Joan Terry, former executive director of the Rockwall ISD Education Foundation, a presentation was scheduled with Reid Johnson, president of Lake Point Advisory Group.

Mr. Johnson explained how the stock market works, covered risks, diversification, how the stock market is influenced by different factors and much more.

Students are anxious to start their investment portfolios with their new knowledge.
