Jones Elementary Library Holds First Kid Inventor Challenge

The Jones Elementary Library recently held their first Kid Inventor Challenge on Kid Inventor Day to get students to think in a different way.

The competition was run by Mrs. Loya, the library media specialist, and students were challenged with creating either a new toy or a new game and instructions that went with their invention. The submissions were judged based on completion, clarity of writing, innovation, function and construction.

First place went to Chloe Mitchell for her board game, Penguins Peak. Brandon Hutchings, with Shoebox Shootout, and Mateo Puentes, with Heroes Journey, tied for second place.

“It inspired me to be creative and think outside of the box,” said Brandon. “I really enjoyed it!”
