Tuition-Based Pre-Kindergarten

The goal is to offer an exemplary self-funding educational program for 4-year-old children who may not qualify for Head Start or Qualifying Pre-K services.

Half-day classes are provided:
8 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Rockwall ISD transportation is not provided.
2015-2016 tuition-based pre-kindergarten classes will be held at Virginia Reinhardt and Sharon Shannon Elementary Schools.

Tuition Costs

  • $100 non-refundable registration fee (deducted from September payment)
  • $2,520.00 per year or Monthly payments of $280.00 (September through May)

The goal is to offer an exemplary educational program for children who qualify. To be eligible for the Prekindergarten program, a child must be 4 years of age by September 1st and meet an eligibility requirement as determined by Texas law.

  • Limited English Proficient
  • Qualifies for free or reduced lunch program
  • Homeless
  • Child of an active duty military parent/guardian
  • Foster Care

Full-day classes are from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and Rockwall ISD transportation is provided.

Bilingual Pre-Kindergarten

The goal is to offer an exemplary one-way dual language program for 4-year-old children who are limited English proficient and have Spanish as their primary language. Full-day classes are provided: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and Rockwall ISD transportation is provided.

Head Start

The goal is to offer an exemplary educational program for children who qualify based on Head Start requirements:

  • 3 or 4 years old on or before September 1
  • Income
  • Limited English Proficient
  • Disability

The classes are from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and RISD transportation is provided.

*Curriculum for the Pre-Kindergarten and Head Start programs follows the Texas Pre-Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines designed to prepare children for kindergarten socially, emotionally and academically.

Early Head Start

The goal is to offer an exemplary educational program for qualifying families with infants and toddlers (birth-3 years), and to pregnant women living in Rockwall, Texas.

Early Head Start is a collaborative partnership between Region 10 Education Service Center and the Rockwall Independent School District serving individuals within the Rockwall ISD boundaries.

Purpose of Program

  • Enhance children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development
  • Enable parents to be better caretakers and teachers to their children
  • Help parents meet their goals, including that of economic independence

Services Provided by Early Head Start

  • Quality early education through the center or home-based program
  • Parenting skills training for families with newborns and other infants
  • Parent education, including parent-child activities
  • Comprehensive health services including services to women before, during and after pregnancy; assistance with well-baby and well-child checkups
  • Ongoing support for parents, referral to agencies in the community to meet specific needs and peer support groups

Information and Documentation Needed To Register For All Early Childhood Programs

  • Birth certificate (registered copy only)
  • Immunization records
  • Child’s Social Security card
  • Proof of residence (*see approved documents listed below)
  • Driver’s license or photo ID of parent or legal guardian enrolling student
  • Proof of income (current 1040) required for Head Start/Pre-Kindergarten
  • Proof of Medicaid or Private Insurance required for Head Start
  • Military active duty: Proof of Service Letter

Proof of Residence

  • Current Utility Bill “water, gas or electric only”
  • Lease Agreement with date of occupancy in semester registering student and current utility bill
  • Builder’s Contract with date of occupancy in semester registering student and current utility bill
