The Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy opened in the fall of 2018. The Academy is a vital part of the STEM program for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The Academy offers several career clusters designed to provide students with an opportunity to explore career options and professional certifications. Open to students from both high schools, the building serves approximately 800 students per class period with a total of 5600 duplicate students. This provides both high schools with spare space for additional enrollment capacity on their existing campuses.
The Academy is also being used by Texas Tech University and Collin College during the day and evening for college course work for students and adults.
