Mrs. Melissa Barnes

This is my 27^th year in education.  I have taught Pre-K, Title I Reading, 2^nd, 3^rd, 5^th and 6^th grade.  I have taught in Bland ISD, Sherman ISD and Rockwall ISD. This is my 23rd year working for Rockwall ISD and my 11^th year as a SAGE teacher. I have my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with a Specialization in Early Childhood Education.  I also have my Master’s in Educational Administration.  I am GT and ESL certified. 

I am married to an amazing man, Kevin.  He is incredibly supportive of my career and involved in our children’s activities.  I have four beautiful children.  Kelsey is 29, currently lives in Denison and attends CCCC.  Alexis is 22 and is attending Texas State University.  John is 20 and attends CCCC.  Ryan is 15 and is in 10^th grade at Rockwall High School.  

I just finished a 14-month battle with breast cancer in September 2018.  I am in complete remission and feeling wonderful!
