About Technology

  • The Department of Technology Services is committed to enhancing the value of education through the infusion of technology into the instructional environment.  We support teaching and learning in the classroom and the day-to-day business operations of Rockwall ISD through the following areas:

    Information Services:  Maintains and supports the Skyward - Student Database.   Responsibilities include training and development of new applications in Skyward Student, Gradebook and Family Access.  This group includes PEIMS (Public Education Information Management System) which reports all district data to the state of Texas.

    Instructional Technology and Library Media Services:  Works directly with students and teachers to maximize the integration of technology and media services in their learning.  Primary areas of support include professional development and technology training in one-on-one, small group, campus and district wide settings; working with teachers to plan lessons and model technology integration in the classroom and in the library, digital citizenship and copyright lessons for teachers and students, and online instructional materials support.

    Technology Infrastructure:  Plans, implements, and supports the District’s network resources. Responsibilities include the installation of all file and application servers, nightly backups, Wi-Fi, VoIP phone system, internet access, and the district content filter.  

    Technology Operations:  Installs, maintains, and repairs computing resources for the District, including over 10,000 workstations, printers, interactive whiteboards, iPads, Chromebooks, and laptop computers.
