Frequently Asked Questions
How did students select their courses for next school year?
Course selection was the first step in the process and started with current 11th grade students in January and ended with current 8th grade students in mid-February. Students submitted signed course selection sheets at the end of February and were instructed to input those into Skyward. Counselors completed course selection for students who did not return their course verification sheets. The campus then built the master schedule based on those course requests; as such, students are only allowed to schedule courses in Arena Scheduling that they requested during this process.
When do students create their schedules?
Current 11th graders: Arena opens at 7:30 AM on April 13, 2020 and closes at 11:59 PM on April 15, 2020.
Current 10th graders: Arena opens at 7:30 AM on April 15, 2020 and closes at 11:59 PM on April 17, 2020.
Current 9th graders: Arena opens at 7:30 AM on April 20, 2020 and closes at 11:59 PM on April 22, 2020.
Current 8th graders: Arena opens at 7:30 AM on April 22, 2020 and closes at 11:59 PM on April 24, 2020.
Do students get to pick their teachers?
No. Teacher names are not visible during the Arena Scheduling process. Staffing and teaching assignments often change over the spring and summer, so selecting a class based on the teacher would not guarantee having that teacher.
What if a student misses the Arena Scheduling window?
Students who do not create their schedule during this window will have a schedule automatically created for them based on their course requests.
Can a parent create their student’s schedule?
Schedules can only be created through Skyward Student Access. Skyward Family Access will not work for the registration process. Students must know their Skyward login ID and password to access online Arena Scheduling.
Will the school change a student’s schedule after it is created in Arena Scheduling?
The campus tries to limit schedule changes following Arena Scheduling, but it is a possibility under certain circumstances. For example, a student might fail a course in which they are currently enrolled and have to retake it. The master schedule is also subject to change over the summer as staffing changes, which could result in adjustments to a student’s schedule.
Once students create a schedule, can they change classes?
Yes. Students can submit a Schedule Change Request form online during the specified time frames. Counselors review schedule change requests in the order they are received. The final day to request a schedule change is May 28, 2020.
When will students know their final schedule for next year?
Students will be able to see their official schedules (with teachers’ names) via Skyward in August when the master schedule is finalized and official schedules are released.
