Summer Learning Ideas at Home

  • Rockwall ISD Parents,

    In an effort to continue to prepare your child for the next grade level or course, our District has provided you with the following optional tools, by grade level for your student to utilize over the summer. Our hope is that your child will have the ability to work on reading and math weekly, as these are the foundational skills all students need to be successful in the next grade level. Please select the tools below for the grade level that your child will enter in fall 2021.

    Summer Math at Home:

    Imagine Math 

    Access through student’s Google Dashboard

    It is recommended that students complete 2-3 lessons per week to prevent the summer math slide.   These adaptive lessons provide support in grade level standards, and are specific to your students’ needs.  Live online teacher support is available throughout the lessons.

    Grades PK-12

    Math Facts

    Access through student’s Google Dashboard

    It is recommended that students complete 30 minutes per week of this game-based math facts program to maintain fluency of math facts.  Students may practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

    Grades 1-6

    It is recommended that students take these Optional Summer Bridge Courses based on the math course they are enrolled in for the next school year in secondary math to review critical concepts of the previous course content and best prepare them for success next year.

    Grades 7-12


    Summer Reading at Home
    :

    Over two months of reading skills can potentially be lost during the summer break.  In an effort to avoid the Summer Reading Slide and maintain your student’s current reading level and stamina, Rockwall ISD is providing links to a variety of online reading sites that contain digital books and lessons to utilize at home through July 31, 2021.  The summer suggested daily reading minutes by grade level completed in the Spring of 2021 is as follows: Kindergarten 10-15 min., 1st Grade 15-20 min., 2nd Grade 20-30 min., 3rd-12th Grade 30 min.
