What is AVID??

AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination.  The AVID elective supports any and all highly motivated students as they challenge themselves in more rigorous, high-level classes (Pre-AP/ HS credit classes). Students are taught study skills, note taking, time management, writing and research skills, and organization, while being immersed in a college-going culture. This class includes required tutoring sessions twice a week and provides support for success in the academically rigorous curriculum.  Additionally, the AVID class provides access to information about colleges and universities through fieldtrips and guest speakers.  Students who are accepted into AVID are required to take at least one Pre-AP and/or high school credit class.
