College Readiness Testing (PSAT/SAT/ACT)
Are you a high school student thinking about college? Are you wondering how you can prepare for college entrance examinations?
New for the 2019-2020 School Year: All Rockwall ISD 11th Graders will take the SAT School Day (No Essay) on Wednesday, March 25th, 2020 at no cost to students or families. Please mark your calendars. More information will be posted during the Fall of 2019.

Taking the PSAT/NMSQT encourages Rockwall ISD high school students to start thinking seriously about life after high school, about their preferred college and career goals, and about the post-high school education students will need to reach those goals. The PSAT/NMSQT has been designed to mirror the SAT and provides students with a detailed score report to show individual strengths and weaknesses pertaining to college readiness. The Student Search Service gives PSAT/NMSQT test-takers the option to voluntarily place their names and addresses in a pool of college-bound students interested in receiving admission and financial aid information from certified colleges, universities and scholarship agencies. 11th Grade students taking the PSAT/NMSQT can qualify for National Merit Scholarships as well as other college scholarships. Finally, the PSAT/NMSQT also provides valuable information to parents and students on their student potential for advanced academic courses in high school.
When is the PSAT/NMSQT taken?
During the school day on Wednesday, October 16th, 2019, all Rockwall ISD 10th and 11th Grade students will have the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT free of charge on their home campus. Students in these grades will be automatically registered for the PSAT/NMSQT. More information will be forthcoming from your campus in September 2019 regarding the PSAT.
What should students bring on the day of the PSAT?
◾ No. 2 pencils and eraser
◾ Approved calculator (four-function, scientific, or graphing calculators – students may not share calculators). College Board approved calculators can be found at this link.
◾ Email address (optional)
◾ A current and valid school/government issued photo ID
9th Graders: If your child is a freshman (from the Class of 2023) and they are interested in taking the PSAT on this day, please contact your school's counseling office to register. The cost for 9th Graders wishing to take the PSAT on their home campus is $14.00. Please note that 9th Graders can typically struggle on the Math portion of the PSAT since they have not learned all of the math concepts included of the test.
Home school students interested in taking the PSAT in October 2019? Please contact Michelle Jensen, Quest Academy Counselor, to register to take the PSAT on that campus.
