Rockwall ISD prohibits bullying on school property, at school-sponsored or school-related activities, or in any vehicle operated by the district [per Board Policy FFI(LOCAL). Bullying may be verbal or written expression or expression through electronic means, or physical conduct. Bullying is not tolerated by the district. Any parent or student who believes they have experienced bullying or that a student has engaged in bullying is encouraged to immediately report the incident to the campus administrator. Retaliation against anyone involved in the complaint process is a violation of district policy and is prohibited.
The first step to annihilating bullying, harassment, and other mistreatment is reporting it. We encourage parents and students to report immediately any mistreatment of students to the campus principal as soon as the mistreatment occurs. Regardless of whether or not the mistreatment rises to the level of “State Defined Bullying,” the District will not allow any mistreatment of students and will take appropriate action to discontinue the inappropriate behavior. Federal privacy laws disallow campus administrators from communicating discipline consequences to parents of students other than their own.
The goal of Rockwall ISD’s bullying intervention process is for all students and employees to have an educational setting that is safe, secure, and free from harassment and bullying of any kind. We employ a four-tiered approach based on federal law, state law, board policy, and administrative guidelines that involves interventions at the level of the teacher, the administrator, the Campus Intervention Team, and Student & Family Services.
The online Bullying Report is available to all parents and students; however, the quickest path to intervention is timely reporting to the campus principal as soon as the mistreatment occurs.
