World History / AP

  • WORLD HISTORY STUDIES – includes a survey of the history and development of various cultures and civilizations. The student will understand traditional history points of reference in world history and how the present relates to the past through the study of people and their reaction to the social, economic, religious, political, and geographical aspects of their world. Students are encouraged to compare and contract various civilizations and periods in view of these major themes.


    AP WORLD HISTORY – presents an approach that allows students to “do history” by guiding them through the steps a historian would take an analyzing historical events through independent study and the ability to read and write critically. Students will develop a greater understanding of the evolution of global processes and contacts in interaction with different types of human societies. The course offers balanced global coverage of Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe. Summer reading may be required. Students are required to take the Advanced Placement exam.
