This is my 21st year teaching American Sign Language in RISD. Prior to teaching ASL, I worked directly with the Deaf community for ten years. During that time, I  founded one of the first Adult and Family Literacy programs for families with hearing loss in the United States.  I also taught a variety of classes related to life skills using ASL as the primary mode of communication.   I chose to teach ASL, so that I could share my love for the Deaf community and ASL with the hearing world.
