Our library houses over 26,000 books and audio-visual materials, including DVDs and play-a-ways (books on mp3s). The Rockwall High School Library subscribes to over 20 periodicals and has access to the Gale databases, eight history databases from ABC-CLIO, Soundzabound for royalty free, copyright free audio for student and staff projects and many more databases. Come by and see all the books, databases, and more the RHS Library has to offer!
Our policy allows students to check out 4 books at a time. Students may borrow books for 3 weeks. Books may be renewed by the student on or before the due date. During class projects, more books may be needed and adjustments will be made at the teachers request.
Since our library is computerized, over-dues are processed each morning. A student with an overdue book cannot check out another book until the overdue item is turned in. The students receive overdue library notices through their English teacher. E-mails are also sent to parents/guardians once a week. Students are required to pay for lost or damaged materials.
The RHS Library is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm when school is in session.
Every Tuesday afternoon the library will be open until 4:30 pm.
Over 20 magazines are available in the library for check out. Magazines can be check out for up to one week. Titles include: Bon Appetit, Discover, Fitness, ESPN, Ebony, National Geographic, Newsweek, Reader’s Digest, Popular Science, Time, Wired, and Smithsonian.
Laminating Machine and Color Copies
Students can print in color for 25 cents a page and can laminate for 50 cents for each piece of paper. Proceeds go to paying for more laminating film. Come to the Library Circulation Desk to ask to have something laminated.
For printing in color, have your document on a flash drive.
Puzzles and Games
Participate in the school wide puzzle. Until complete, a puzzle is on one of the table in the library for anyone to work on during their free time. Games such as Apples to Apples, Jenga and Chess are available to play in the library.
