•                      AP US History is a college level survey course beginning with early Native Americans through 2016.  Students will be asked to learn to analyze U.S. history using historic thinking skills, writing, discussions, and assessments.
This course will prepare students for the AP US History exam in May.  Students can earn 6 hours of college credit by passing this test.  This course is on the same pace as a 2 semester Freshman college class therefore it requires reading and study at a fairly rapid pace.  Passing this test and earning credit is worth $6,000.00in college credit, or $35.00 per class day.   ANd we have fun in the process, building a camaraderie with this challenging course.

As a junior, there will be times of great stress.  Many students choose to have a heavy load of classes and extra-curricular activities.   Please be aware that you will survive if all things are not done perfectly during busy seasons of the year.   Your goal is not perfection but learning and in an AP course passing the test.   A's are difficult with all the factors involved in life and AP upper level courses.   THe spring semester allows for some "project" grades that allow students an opportunity to score well on items other than a test.   This can aide their average.
WE WILL HAVE FUN TOO.  We will dance. We will have a marshmallow war.  We will laugh, discuss, and yes work hard.   We will dine and play together when ever possible.

***THERE WILL BE QUIZZES OF VARIOUS TYPES OVER EACH CHAPTER.  HANDWRITTEN NOTES ARE ALLOWED TO BE USED AND Graded the 1st 6 weeks.
