Here is some basic information for my units. Please direct your child to my google classroom for more information. Thanks.
Imagine Math Logs
Unit 1: Equivalent Forms (Fractions, Decimals, Percent) August 19-September 6
We began unit 1 with a quick review on how to change from a mixed number to an improper fraction. So far we have learned how to find equivalent forms of fractions, decimals, and percent. We are trying to understand that all forms have the same value. We also learned about repeating decimals and benchmark fractions. This next week we will take our knowledge and apply real life situations. The pre-ap class will also learn how percent is used in budget and sales tax.
Changing Between Mixed Numbers and Improper Fractions
Visualizing Percent Problems using 10x10 grids
Converting Fractions to Decimals
Estimating Percent Using a Bar Model
Unit 2: Ordering Fractions, Decimals, and Integers September 10-September 18
Unit 2 is a short unit. We will continue with percent problems but also learn how to put numbers into categories, such as natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, and rational numbers. Students will be able to order the various types of numbers. The plan is to test on Thursday, September 20. During the next couple of weeks we will also do some beginning of the year math assessments in M-Star and begin Imagine Math.
