Tax Impact
Rockwall ISD’s VATRE tax impact is 66% LESS than the prior year's proposal and, due to local cost-saving efforts, would result in a four-cent net tax increase. It would generate $16.5 million more in local funding to address teacher and staff pay, underfunded special education services, student programs and underfunded safety and security.

The average taxable home value in Rockwall ISD is $540,000. With the additional Homestead Exemption, the taxable value is $400,000. If approved by the voters, the Voter Approval Tax Ratification Election tax impact would be roughly $13 per month. For taxpayers 65 years and older, taxes are frozen and there is no tax impact if there have been no improvements made to the primary residence.
If the VATRE is approved, the tax rate will be set at $1.0669 per $100 valuation.
