Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

A Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), formerly referred to as Response to Intervention, is a systematic multi-tiered model. MTSS encompasses support in the areas of academics, behavior, and social emotional needs and takes on a "whole child" approach. MTSS establishes a process to identify students in need of support, provide intervention, and progress monitor. MTSS is not a special program. It is a support in place for all students.

MTSS is based on the following components:

  • Provision of high quality standards based instruction for ALL students
  • Use of data to identify students in need of intervention and enrichment
  • Provision of targeted, evidence based intervention
  • Progress monitoring and ongoing data collection and analysis
  • Focus on the whole child (academics, behavior, social emotional)
  • Collaborative approach to support our students
  • Prevention-Enrichment-Intervention

Campus MTSS teams meet to discuss student data, create intervention plans, create goals for students, and to review student progress. When a student begins receiving intervention, parents will be notified with a Notice of Intervention Letter.

This letter outlines:

  • reason for the need of intervention
  • type of intervention the student will receive
  • duration of intervention
  • when the parent will receive progress monitoring information

MTSS is also an integral piece of Child Find. You can find more information on Child Find HERE
