Student Privacy & Digital Safety

It is a priority in Rockwall ISD to protect student’s while they are using district approved digital resources.
  • Rockwall ISD trains both students and staff regarding the safe, ethical, legal, and responsible use of the Internet and District Technology Resources, and their rights and responsibilities under this plan.
  • The district protects against access to materials that are considered inappropriate through a variety of measures:
    • The district’s filtering software limits student internet access as defined by the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA). Since filters can’t be relied upon to limit access to all sites with questionable material, the district has a process in place to block sites as needed as well.
    • Rockwall ISD educates students about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals online and cyberbullying awareness and response.
    • Rockwall ISD utilizes the district filtering system and an email and document monitoring system to alert campus administrators regarding inappropriate or harmful searches and content.
