Bus stops are selected to provide safe, efficient service for the greatest number of students while maintaining a reasonable walking distance for families. Stop locations may be adjusted based on student safety, traffic patterns, road conditions or the ability of a bus to safely access the area. Because bus stops are designed to serve neighborhoods rather than individual homes, they are not typically placed at a student's residence, with limited exceptions for eligible pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students.

Rockwall ISD strives to keep bus rides to one hour or less each way under normal operating conditions. Travel times may vary depending on factors such as traffic, weather, road conditions, route adjustments or other situations that affect transportation services. Our priority is providing safe and reliable transportation for every student. If significant delays occur, the District will share updates through the Sky-Alert notification system.

Bus stops are designed to safely and efficiently serve neighborhoods rather than individual homes. Limiting the number of stops helps keep routes running on time, reduces the amount of time students spend on the bus and minimizes traffic disruptions. Providing neighborhood stops also ensures transportation services are applied consistently and fairly for all eligible riders.

To help ensure the safety and security of all students, riders may only be picked up and dropped off at their assigned bus stop. Bus drivers are not permitted to make changes to stop locations, and campuses cannot approve requests for students to ride a different bus route, including temporary changes.
