Welcome to sixth grade!  We are happy to have you and your child join our family.  This year in reading and writing, we will focus our studies using the workshop model.  This means that your child will be indepently reading a book of their choice daily applying the skills taught that day.  During writing time,  your child will be writing daily again applying that day's lesson.  The goals are to improve reading fluency and to dive deeper in the book beyond worksheets.  Our goals for writing are to learn elements of the current genre we are studying and use both publised and student mentor texts with a focus on applying the writing crafts used.  My hope is to help students develop a passion for reading and writing.
