Degrees and Certifications:

Brandon Vestal

This will be my seventeenth year in the classroom. Until this year, I have traditionally taught history (U.S. and World). However, for the past couple years I have been teaching AP psychology and AP world history. I have a B.A. in Psychology from Howard Payne University and an M.A. in Humanities and History from the University of Texas at Arlington. I am currently working on my doctorate in education in curriculum and instruction at Texas A&M College Station. I am also the club sponsor for Voices, a club that seeks to celebrate all cultures at Heath. Teaching is my passion. I am excited about what we are going to be doing in psychology and world history this year as we try to make learning inspiring, interactive and impactful. In AP psychology I seek to make the class a fun inauguration to the subject with the hope of it generating enough interest that students would go on to take a college class or perhaps even a career in that field. In AP world history, I want my students to improve in their writing skills, think deeply and discuss critical topics in history and experience history in such a way that they are prepared to engage the world with what they have learned. My goal in both AP classes goal is to help students be better prepared for college, help them understand the career options available to them in these fields and ultimately score well on the exam and earn college credit.
