Rockwall ISD Commitment to Change Period for PK-8

  • Dear Parents/Guardians of Rockwall ISD Students Grades PK-8,

The end of the second grading period is quickly approaching and the opportunity to change the learning model (remote or in-person) for your child(ren) for the third grading period opens today Thursday, November 19 through Thursday, December 3, 2020. The Commitment Change form through Skyward Family Access allows parents/guardians to select in-person or remote learning for the third grading period which is January 6 through March 5. The change will go into effect on the first day of the third grading period on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

Moving forward, please review the below attendance expectations and learning options for the third nine-weeks.

    Attendance

In-person learners are required to be present in class for attendance purposes. Rockwall ISD understands there are times when your child will be absent. Documentation is required when this occurs. An electronic note submitted via Family Access or an original signed note from a parent or doctor must be sent with the student indicating the reason for the absence. Notes are due upon return to school.

Note: Rockwall ISD will provide remote instruction to students who are required to quarantine due to close contact with a positive COVID-19 individual or staying at home because of a positive COVID-19 test.

Based on Spring 2021 Instructional Planning, two learning options for Spring 2021 will be available for our students:

Option 1: In-Person Learning Five Days a Week

For the third nine-weeks, all Rockwall ISD students who choose in-person will attend school 5 days a week. The District will no longer offer the hybrid model of instruction for high school students.

    Option 2: Remote Learning

For the third nine-weeks, remote learning will continue in the same instructional format five days a week. In order to facilitate a smooth transition for students and staff, requested changes must be madeby the December 3, 2020 deadline due to the direct impact on staffing.

Note: No action is necessary for parents/guardians who wish for their child(ren) to remain in their current learning model.

To assist you in the process to complete your selection for the third nine-weeks, view the  “How To” tutorial here.
