Robert Hackett

Robert Hackett is the Director of Bands at Utley Middle School in Rockwall, Texas. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University – Commerce where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music education. At TAMU-C, Mr. Hackett was a member of the Wind Ensemble playing French Horn and the Pride Marching Band playing the Mellophone. During his tenure as a musician in the Wind Ensemble, Mr. Hackett had the honor of performing at Texas Music Educators Association Conference in San Antonio and had the prestigious honor of performing in New York at the world-renown Carnegie Hall.

Before Mr. Hackett taught at Utley Middle School, he taught at Bettye Myers Middle School in Denton, Texas, and for six years at W.E. Greiner Middle School in Oak Cliff. As the assistant band director at Greiner, Mr. Hackett built a thriving Symphonic Band that in 2016 received the program’s very first Sweepstakes award at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest. He also premiered the Yellow Jacket Jazz Band, which over the course of 3 years went from a 10-student after-school club to a 40-student during-school program. The jazz band was invited to perform all over the city of Dallas.

Mr. Hackett was a member of the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps in Toledo, Ohio, where he played Mellophone. He also is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association.
