Transfers
This page refers to students who are already enrolled in Rockwall ISD.
For new students to RISD, please see: New Student Enrollment.
Other than the children of full-time employees of Rockwall ISD, the District does not accept students for enrollment who live outside Rockwall ISD boundaries.
The Student transfer application window will re-open on April 1, 2025.

Rockwall ISD adheres to the neighborhood school concept; therefore, all students shall be assigned to and shall attend the school in their home attendance zone.
For this reason, requests for transfers will generally be denied unless extenuating circumstances, such as a documented compelling hardship, exist.
Residence changes are not considered a compelling hardship.
All decisions are based on:
- School enrollment capacity and/or specific grade level capacity
- Documented compelling hardship
- Student's discipline, attendance and academic record
Things to consider:
- Transfers shall be granted for one regular school year at a time and must be applied for annually.
- If a 9th-11th grade transfer student wishes to participate in a UIL-governed sport, please read the specific requirements for athletes in the Transfer Guidelines.
- Transportation will not be provided for transfer students.
- Transfers are considered on a hardship basis, and if granted, they are a privilege.
- Transfers are not allowed during the academic year, except in extraordinary circumstances.
- Violation of the terms of the transfer agreement may result in a transfer being revoked during the current school year or not being approved for the following year.
- The District will not become involved in family disputes between joint conservators of students. Should a situation arise, the transfer consideration may be revoked.
- A non-refundable transfer application fee of $50.00 (cash or credit only) per student is due at the time of application.
Application Timelines:
April 1 - June 1, 2025: Transfer requests for Children of District Employees and students CURRENTLY on an approved transfer.
April 7- June 1, 2025: Transfer requests for students NOT currently on an approved transfer or those requesting a transfer to a new campus (Applications for 6th, 9th and 10th grade students are considered to be new transfer requests.)
June 1, 2025: Deadline to file a transfer application
Due to enrollment numbers, Rockwall ISD will not be approving NEW transfer requests to the following schools:
