All-Star Effort: Students Shine at Special Olympics Track and Field

All-Star Effort: Students Shine at Special Olympics Track and Field
Luci Mouton

Students showed their school spirit and gave it their all at the Rockwall ISD Special Olympics Track and Field event on April 2. Elementary and Secondary students came together at the Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium to compete and cheer each other on. Students paraded around the track during the opening ceremonies, and the Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps presented the colors and performed a beautiful violin rendition of the National Anthem. Herman E. Utley Middle School eighth-grade student Phoenix T. recited the Special Olympics Oath before the games began.

"Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."

Thanks to the coaches, volunteers, staff, and families who made this event possible. Your support helps create opportunities for every student to shine!
