Fashion design students from the Dr. Gene Burton College & Career Academy placed in the top five at the FCCLA State 2025 Fashion Design Competition, recently held in Dallas. Of the 11 students who competed, seven placed in the Top 5 in three competition categories. Five of the seven students placed in the top two in their categories, qualifying them to advance to the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida, this July.
This marks the second consecutive year Rockwall ISD will send at least five students to compete at the national level, a testament to the district’s growing excellence in fashion education.
Under the guidance of their dedicated coach and mentor Mrs. Renee’ Aube’, the team competed in categories including Fashion Design and Fashion Construction, with standout performances among more than 25 contestants per category across five Texas regions.
“These students are by far the most talented group of fashion designers in the history of our FCCLA chapter,” said Aube’. “They work year-round—weekends and holidays included—living by our motto: ‘Whatever it takes.’”
