New "Simple Truths" Website Empowers Community with Clear, Transparent School Finance Information

We are excited to announce that Rockwall ISD officially launched Simple Truths, a website designed to encourage financial transparency and to share facts about how public schools are funded and how local tax dollars are being spent. 

In Rockwall ISD, we face financial challenges as we manage deficit budgets and underfunded state mandates while we work to maintain a level of excellence our taxpayers and community have come to expect. State funding continues to fall short as we compete to recruit and retain teachers and staff, fund services in special education programs, and provide safety and security while our student enrollment grows by approximately 400 students a year. Even with a state increase in school funding, the first since 2019, the fact is these amounts do not extend to all staff positions and do not fully account for other operational cost increases. 

Simple Truths is a website that breaks down complex school finance information into easier to understand messages. Rockwall ISD staff, families and taxpayers have the opportunity to learn more about public school finance and our local school budget.
