Rockwall High School Robotics Team Adopts a Highway
Luci Mouton
As part of a Rockwall High School student-led community service passion project, Full Metal Jackets officer Phoebe I. initiated and led the effort to adopt a stretch of roadway through TXDOT’s Adopt-a-Highway program — a process that took nearly a year to complete. Thanks to her determination and the support of the team, it's official!
"I feel proud to have accomplished this, and alongside my team, and I know we’ll make a positive impact in the community," Phoebe said. "Every time I drive by those signs, it reminds me that good things are worth working for, and I really think that’s the spirit of our team. I hope other groups are inspired by the signs and adopt their own sections of highway to keep improving Texas roadways."
You can now spot Full Metal Jacket’s name on signs along a 2-mile stretch of Hwy 66 through Fate, from FM 3549 to FM 551.
This past Saturday, the team held its first cleanup day, collecting six bags of trash and making a visible impact on our local environment.
We’re so proud of these students for stepping up, giving back, and showing what it means to be leaders both in and out of the robotics lab.
