IPC at Rock Nine

IPC at Rock Nine
Jessica Applegate

Students in Mrs. Bailey's IPC classes recently brought science to life with a hands-on exploration of atomic structure and emission spectra. Using creative “edible atoms,” students modeled the arrangement of subatomic particles, reinforcing their understanding of protons, neutrons, and electrons in a fun and engaging way.

The lesson continued with an investigation into emission spectra, where students observed how elements produce unique light patterns. By connecting their edible models to real-world atomic behavior, students gained a deeper understanding of how scientists identify elements and study matter at the atomic level.
